Liverpool CSD Included in Governor’s Yellow Zone Designation

Tuesday, November 10, 2020

Dear Liverpool CSD Families:

As you may have heard, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that parts of Onondaga County have been placed under new restrictions (yellow zone) due to a rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area.

The towns of Clay and Salina were included in the yellow zone, and both towns encompass the entirety of the Liverpool Central School District’s boundaries.

What does this mean for the district?

As part of the yellow zone designation, the Liverpool Central School District must start randomly testing 20 percent of all people (students and staff) if the building conducts school in-person. This testing will take place weekly until further notice. Schools will remain open as long as a district reaches the 20 percent testing goal each week. If not, districts will switch to remote learning.

The district is working with Onondaga County to finalize details regarding how testing will be conducted throughout the district. Please note that no child will be tested without permission from a parent or guardian.

Families with students in the district’s A, B and C Cohorts (those who attend school in-person during the school week) are asked to keep an eye out for a survey that will be shared later today. This survey will provide the district with feedback from families regarding this development.

We will provide everyone with more information when it becomes available.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mark F. Potter
Superintendent of Schools
